Calma: the closest alternative to breastfeeding!

The newborn placed on the mother's chest and left alone is able to find the breast by itself and suck the first drops of colostrum. So from the beginning the mother and the newborn need to "find each other" with the right calm in order to start the breastfeeding process.

Medela with the Calma teat is a great research-based feeding solution that helps maintain the baby's natural feeding behavior at the breast designed on the basis of the latest research on infant sucking.

Your baby can drink, pause and breathe in his natural rhythm, remaining calm and peaceful, just as if he were at the mother's breast. Calma teats help the baby avoid swallowing air during feeding, thanks to the unique ventilation system.

Cleaning and sterilization:
Use potable water for cleaning.
Clean all parts immediately after use to avoid drying of milk residues and prevent the formation of bacteria.
If you use a brush, be careful not to damage the components.
For hygienic reasons we recommend replacing the teats after 3 months.

Usage tips:
• Disassemble, wash and rinse all parts.
• Place the parts in a saucepan of sufficient capacity.
• Fill with cold water until parts are well covered. Optionally, a teaspoon of citric acid can be added to prevent the formation of limescale deposits.
• Heat and boil for 5 minutes.
• Remove from the heat and discard the water.
• Dry the parts with a clean cloth.
After the first use the parts can be:
• Clean in the top rack of the dishwasher or using Medela Quick Clean microwave bags or a steam steriliser, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
