How do they work?
In order for the transition from the cot to the single bed to be safe and not create trauma for the child or concern for the parents, the bed bars are an element of fundamental importance. The product, commercially available in various varieties and materials, is useful for preserving the well-being and safety of adults and children. These are safety rails which, equipped with brackets and/or feet, are wedged under the mattress. The weight of the latter allows the side rails to be blocked, limiting the child's range of action and protecting him from movements outside the surface of the bed which could cause him to fall. Also, some models are equipped with hooks that offer the possibility of fixing the barriers directly to the bed structure or to the base, guaranteeing greater stability and safety.
The types of bed barriers on the market are really many and differ in structure and material. Those in wood have the advantage of being made of a natural material, which however turns out to be hard and therefore, to prevent the child from banging his head and risking getting hurt, it could be advisable to insert padding. The most modern bed rails are made of aluminum and are usually already covered with a fabric panel that limits damage in the event of a collision with the child.
The bed bars on the market are particularly versatile and can be used in any type of bed: bunk, loft, bridge and in the classic single bed. In any case, the advice is to opt for the folding ones that allow the child to be placed on the cot more easily. Usually the side rails on the market are standard, however it is advisable to check the type of bed of your child to identify the barriers most suited to the needs. Another feature to take into consideration is the weight that the bed rails can support: it is better to opt for a rail that supports a few kg more than the weight of your child.
