Digital Scales For Your Baby: How Much Will He Weigh?

In the first months and years of life, together with age, weight is a fundamental parameter to refer to in order to understand if children are growing correctly and taking the right amount of food. Therefore, the baby scale becomes a necessary tool to weigh it with regularity and precision. In the early stages even the slightest fluctuation can be relevant, especially for premature or underweight babies.

In the past, most parents entrusted the monitoring of their little one's weight to their trusted pediatrician or pharmacist because children's scales were expensive and sophisticated instruments. Some, on the other hand, rented scales to weigh the baby at home, only to realize after a few months that perhaps they could buy one with that money.

Some are still of the opinion that having a baby scale is useless, but do you want to have the convenience of weighing your baby at home without having to go to the pediatrician, pharmacist or consulting room? Warm and when you want. Constantly knowing your child's weight can certainly be a source of security for you parents, making sure that it does not become obsessive control stress.

When to weigh the baby

Pediatricians recommend weighing the newborn once a week, undressed, before eating and possibly always at the same time. In recent years the practice of so-called "double weighing" has fallen into disuse, i.e. weighing the baby before and after feeding in order to know exactly how much milk he has taken. It is therefore not recommended unless the pediatrician invites you to do it for particular problems. The big distinction must be made taking into consideration the operating technology. So we can have on one side the electronic scale, also known as digital scale, and on the other the analog scale, also called mechanical or manual scale. Let's see in detail the characteristics that distinguish them.

Analog balance

It is a scale equipped with a hand which oscillates on a numbered dial and indicates the weight. The hand moves due to an internal mechanism and tends to be not so accurate if the child moves a lot. Precisely for this reason, every now and then it is necessary to calibrate it again using a special wheel.

It has the advantage of being easy to use and also of always being ready for weighing.

Digital scale

It is a scale equipped with an electric sensor and the weight is easy to read on a display. It guarantees maximum precision and, thanks to internal mechanisms, manages to eliminate the impact of the child's movements. Digital scales can usually store various weights in memory so that they can be compared with each other. Digital scales do not need to be manually calibrated before use. Be it digital or analog, don't underestimate the appearance of the structure. An uncomfortable scale will make your baby cry, so pay attention to the design!
